Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem Dr James Goll

We are living in days when we desperately need clear teaching, clear instruction, and clear revelation from trusted voices—especially when it comes to praying for Jerusalem, Israel, and the Middle East.
With continuing conflict and instability across the region, how do we pray effectively? How do we move beyond reacting to headlines and learn to pray with biblical insight and the direction of the Holy Spirit?
Let me give you five keys for effective prayer that can help us in this hour.
Five Keys for Effective Prayer
1. Pray according to the Word of God.Do not veer from the Scriptures. Pray the Word! The written prayers of Scripture contain His Word, His will, and His ways. Take specific promises and passages and bring them before the Lord in prayer.
2. Pray in the Holy Spirit.Never underestimate the value of Spirit-led prayer. The Holy Spirit knows what the Father desires and what is needed in every crisis. As we pray in the Spirit, we allow Him to lead us beyond our own understanding and into the purposes of God.
3. Consider your alignment. There are many calls to prayer and fasting today. We cannot respond to every voice or every assignment. Give priority to the prayer assignments of the spiritual community and relationships with which God has aligned you.
4. Pray according to the feasts of the Lord. The biblical feasts help us understand God’s times and seasons, particularly as we pray concerning Israel, Jerusalem, the Middle East, and the great end-time harvest. We have just crossed the threshold into the Hebrew year 5787. Let us pay attention to the times in which we live.
5. Learn to pray from the heart.I often speak about the head, the heart, and the hands. We need our minds renewed by truth and accurate understanding of Scripture. We need our hearts engaged with God’s heart. And then our prayers need hands and feet—actions that demonstrate our faith.
When we bring these principles together, we can begin to pray with greater insight.
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem
Second Chronicles 6:6 tells us that God chose Jerusalem so that His name might be there. And Psalm 122 gives us one of the clearest prayer assignments in all of Scripture:
“Pray for the peace (shalom) of Jerusalem.”Psalm 122:6
Jerusalem is unique. It is a city where East meets West, a city of tremendous contrast, great conflict, and great destiny. As believers, we have the priestly privilege of interceding for our own cities and nations, but Scripture specifically calls us to pray for Jerusalem.
So take the Word and posture it in your heart. Bring it before the throne of Almighty God through Jesus Christ, our Messiah. Then yield yourself to Spirit-empowered prayer.
And remember that shalom is about more than the absence of conflict. It speaks of wholeness, deliverance, healing, well-being, and peace.
