I stepped into the lower garden a week ago, a tranquil space that often serves as my refuge from the chaos of daily life, and as I did, I was suddenly enveloped by an unexpected sound. It was an old mill grinding sound, resonating through the air with an eerie yet precise quality that seemed to echo the whispers of time itself.
Then, amidst the gentle rustling of leaves, I heard a loud SPLAT, which startled me and drew my attention skyward. In that moment, I was gifted with a vivid vision. A large lump of clay, seemingly sent from the heavens, descended and struck a potter's wheel with a definitive force. It struck me that this wheel had not been turned in a long time, its surface dusty and forgotten, a relic of creativity that had long lain dormant.
As I stood there, I could almost hear the rust breaking off of the mechanism attached to the wheel, the sound reminiscent of old secrets being revealed. The atmosphere shifted dramatically when, without warning, a deluge of water cascaded down from above, spilling over the clay and transforming the dry, cracked surface into a malleable substance, ready to be shaped and molded. In that moment, I knew... God was showing me something profound.
The wheel was turning once more, and a NEW thing was on the brink of emerging from the depths of the earth.
Just as I was processing this revelation, I heard a sound akin to something cracking above me. Instinctively, I glanced toward the east, half-expecting to witness the Lord splitting the sky.
Alas, the skies remained intact, yet the vision continued to unfold before my mind's eye. I saw a hand, majestic and powerful, descending from heaven, holding a ball of dirt that seemed to pulse with purpose. With a decisive motion, the hand slapped the clay upon the potter's wheel, and I could feel the weight of that action resonate within me.
The sensation was almost painful, a reminder of the pressure that often accompanies transformation and growth. Yet, amidst the discomfort, I was reassured that the hand of the Potter was firmly in place, guiding the process, and I understood that a significant transformation was emerging. It filled me with an overwhelming sense of peace, and I realized that I too was on that wheel, subject to the divine shaping that was taking place.
In that moment, I didn’t have all the answers. I could not foresee what would emerge from this divine encounter, but I felt an undeniable peace wash over me, a certainty that a NEW beginning was on the horizon. I felt compelled to share this experience because I believe it reflects a process we are all undergoing at this pivotal moment in time.
Change is coming, and while I cannot articulate exactly what it will entail, I am confident that it is imminent. For those of us who are attuned to the Word, who recognize His voice, and who are aware of His Divine Presence, we will navigate through these changes and emerge victorious on the other side.
As I gazed at the miry clay, I was struck by the vision of what could be. When the hands had finished their work, I saw a tall, straight cylinder vessel take form before my eyes. In that instant, I understood that He was that tower, our refuge, and we would be safe within His embrace.
Proverbs 18:10 reminds us: The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
Later that afternoon, as I engaged in the simple act of baking bread, I was transported back to the garden where I had witnessed the potter's wheel in action.
As I kneaded the dough, pushing and shoving it with intent, I felt a deep connection to the purpose God had placed within me. I was reminded that just as He was shaping the clay, He had also purposed that I would bake bread, a symbol of sustenance and nourishment, knowing that He was present in both the garden and the kitchen.
John 6:35 resonates deeply: Jesus says, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst."
This scripture filled me with encouragement, affirming that He speaks not only in moments of quiet reflection but also in the mundane tasks of our daily lives.
He is committed to meeting our physical needs and our spiritual needs alike, promising to remove all the marks of our past and grant us a NEWNESS we have not experienced in quite some time. I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and praise for the Lord.
Isaiah 43:19 proclaims, Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
God bless you all ever so much, as we embark on this journey of transformation together.
